What an extraordinary place Gojo Guest House is. We could not have been happies with the most luxurious western accomodations - The simplicity and authenticity of this hostel quit us absolutely. We especially appreciated the attractive and personable ataff - they never failed to be helpful, reassuring and polite. All in all, !! Cozy, beautiful - each design choice pleased the eye and matched the wonderful traditional architecture. We felt very happy here - Thank you!

京都のゲストハウスに初めて泊まりました。近所にコンビ二や 99shop もあって駅からも近いのですごく便利でした。3泊しかしませんでしたが、他の旅行者の方と沢山の話も出来てよかったです。宿泊者は外国の方が多かったので、もっと英語が話せればもっと楽しかったと思います。私が宿泊した時は、アジアの方が多かったです。皆いい人たちでした。五条ゲストハウス、女一人でもぜんぜん問題ないですよ :D

Truly the best guesthouse ever. The staff is really nice, polite and speak english fluently. The rooms and the facilities are all clean and cozy and tastefully decorated. The cafe right downstairs serves good food and drinks and they play good music too. If we ever travel around Kyoto again we will definitaly stay here again. It is a good place for good people!

This is what you come to Japan for. Traditional Japanese rooms in, beautiful atmosphere and you get the best location for nightlife and for all the sights. Plus no curfew and a lounge with great prices. I give it 5 udon bowls out of 5. What makes Gojo Guesthouse even more welcoming is that the owner and staff are as equally welcoming and helpful, enabling us to enjoy Kyoto to the utmost. I will recommend Gojo Guesthouse to all my friends and family, all with all those who I have yet to meet.

This is the best hostel I have ever seen. Very clean. I love the classic Ryokan/Japanese style. This place eminates karma and zen like nothing else. There is something special about sitting in a circle on the tatami and sharing your food, your language, and your culture with complete strangers. Remember, the attitude you carry with you will be reflected back to you ten fold. This is how you become a traveller instead of a tourist.

A lovely old building, a room that deserved a tea ceremony, a cosy cafe bar, fun and friendly staff, showers so strong they give you a free massage and all at very affordable price. Okini! Une maison, dans la tradition du Japon, avec des chambres avec tatami et futon...du the vert ("ocha") a disposition... et surtout, un accueil des gerants st leur personnel tres chaleureux et sympathique. The staff is really friendly : speaks English, gives some tips for travelling around... The guesthouse is typical, very clean and above all close to the center which is really convenient either to take the bus to visit or go out for a nice restaurant, drinks or shopping for the end of the day. ( We sleep on tatami, nice room, good atmoshere...)
